Filmmaker James Gray to get lifetime award at Locarno Film Fest

Acclaimed Hollywood filmmaker James Gray will be honoured with the Lifetime Career Award at the 2026 Locarno Film Festival. The prestigious award recognises his outstanding contribution to cinema and his decades-long career as a filmmaker.

According to an ANI report, the festival will also host a special screening of Gray’s latest film, ‘Paper Tiger’, during the event. The filmmaker is also expected to interact with audiences in a public discussion about his career and filmmaking journey.

Gray is known for directing acclaimed films such as ‘The Immigrant’, ‘The Lost City of Z’, ‘Ad Astra’, and ‘Armageddon Time’. His films have earned praise at major international film festivals over the years.

The 79th Locarno Film Festival will be held from August 5 to 15 in Switzerland. The Lifetime Career Award is one of the festival’s highest honours and is presented to filmmakers who have made a significant impact on world cinema
