Ryan Gosling-starrer ‘Project Hail Mary’ and the ‘Legally Blonde’ prequel series ‘Elle’ emerged as the most-watched Prime Original film and series globally on Prime Video during the week of July 6-12, as the streaming platform’s latest weekly rankings highlighted a mix of Hollywood tentpoles, returning franchises and international originals drawing audiences across markets.
The charts also underscored the growing popularity of non-English content, with Spanish film ‘Boulevard’ and South Korean series ‘See You at Work Tomorrow!’ leading their respective international categories, an Amazon Prime Video statement stated.
In the worldwide films chart, ‘Project Hail Mary’, starring Gosling as science teacher-turned-astronaut Ryland Grace, claimed the top spot ahead of ‘The Sheep Detectives’ and ‘Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War‘.
The top 10 also featured ‘Your Fault: London’, Spain’s ‘Boulevard’, Jason Statham’s action thriller ‘A Working Man’, ‘Playdate’, ‘The Beekeeper’, ‘The Wrecking Crew’ and ‘Mercy’.
Among series, ‘Elle’ led the global rankings, followed by romantic drama ‘Off Campus’ and ‘Every Year After’. The rankings are based on the total number of Prime Video accounts worldwide that watched each title during the July 6-12 period, with television rankings reflecting viewership across all available seasons.
In the non-English films category, Spain dominated the charts with ‘Boulevard’ taking the top position, followed by ‘Culpa Mia’, ‘Culpa Nuestra’, ‘Culpa Tuya’, ‘Tell Me Softly’, ‘Agent Zeta’ and ‘Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End’. Mexico’s ‘Vengeance’, Italy’s ‘No Place to be Single’ and France’s ‘A Family of Bastards’ also featured among the 10 most-watched international films.
South Korean workplace drama ‘See You at Work Tomorrow!’ topped the non-English series rankings, while Indian originals ‘Isakapatnam’, ‘
The list also included Germany’s ‘Maxton Hall—The World Between Us’ and ‘LOL: Last One Laughing Germany’, Poland’s ‘LOL: Last One Laughing Poland’, Japan’s ‘Nippon Sangoku: The Three Nations of the Crimson Sun’, Mexico’s ‘A Pair of Idiots’ and Chile’s ‘The House of the Spirits’.
Amazon said the weekly rankings are updated regularly and are based on worldwide Prime Video account viewership from Monday through Sunday.
