Prime Video has announced the streaming release of ‘Dug Dug’, a satirical comedy written and directed by Ritwik Pareek. According to a Prime Video press release, the film is now available to watch in India and more than 200 countries and territories worldwide after receiving praise during its festival run.
Produced by Bottle Rocket Pictures, ‘Dug Dug’ stars Altaf Khan, Gaurav Soni and Yogendra Singh in lead roles. The film is executive produced by Anurag Kashyap, Nikkhil Advani, Vikramaditya Motwane and Vasan Bala.
The story follows Thakur, an alcoholic man who dies in a motorcycle accident. The next day, his bike mysteriously disappears from the police station and is found at the accident spot. Soon, local people begin believing the bike has divine powers and start offering alcohol to it. As more people claim their prayers are being answered, the belief spreads rapidly and turns into a new commercialised religion.
Blending humour with social commentary, ‘Dug Dug’ explores themes of faith, superstition and blind belief. The film has been praised for its unique storytelling and is now available for streaming on Prime Video.
