45% ISPs saw 0.2 Mbps speed hike in Netflix index; 18 nations in top tier

Forty-five percent of Internet Service Providers (ISPs) saw an increase of 0.2 Mbps, 54 percent stayed the same, and one percent saw a decrease between 0.2 and 0.4 Mbps in the month of March on the Netflix ISP Speed Index, a monthly update on which ISPs provide the best prime-time Netflix streaming experience.

Eighteen countries and regions were in the top performance tier in March 2025 and despite the domestic hype, no Indian ISPs featured in the top tier.

The countries in the top tier included Canada, Denmark, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, the United Kingdom, the United States with all of them registering an average speed of 3.4 Mbps, a statement from Netflix stated.

Top Indian ISPs, including 7 Star Digital, Airtel, Alliance Broadband, Atria Convergence Technologies, D-VoiS, Excitel Broadband, GTPL, Hathway, Jio Giga Fiber, One Broadband, Syscon Infoway, Tata Play Fiber and YOU Broadband recorded an average speed of of 3.2 Mbps in March 2025

The Netflix ISP Speed Index is a measure of prime-time Netflix performance on a particular ISP and not a measure of overall performance for other services or data that may travel across the specific ISP network. Higher Netflix performance generally means better picture quality, quicker start times and fewer interruptions.

While there were no significant individual ISP increases since February’s results, the streamer said four ISPs saw a decrease between 0.2 and 0.4 Mbps in March.

Vivo Internet in Brazil fell from 3.0 to 2.8 Mbps, Massy Communications in Trinidad and Tobago decreased from 2.6 to 2.4 Mbps, FPT Telecom in Vietnam dropped from 3.0 to 2.8 Mbps, and BOnline in Kuwait fell from 2.6 to 2.2 Mbps.
