Zee Music Company has expanded its artist roster with the signing of iconic composer and singer Adnan Sami for exclusive non-film music projects. The label has also onboarded contemporary pop artist and producer QARAN, reinforcing its focus on artist-led music and independent talent.
According to a Zee Music press release, the move reflects the label’s broader strategy to grow beyond film soundtracks and build a stronger portfolio of original, non-film music. Launched in 2014, Zee Music Company has grown into one of India’s prominent music labels and publishers, with an extensive catalogue that spans Bollywood soundtracks as well as independent music.
As part of this expansion, the label has signed Padma Shri awardee Adnan Sami, marking a significant collaboration in the non-film music space. A celebrated singer, composer and pianist, Sami has remained one of the most influential voices in Indian pop and film music for more than three decades. Over the years, he has delivered several iconic hits including ‘Lift Karade,’ ‘Kabhi To Nazar Milao’, ‘Tera Chehra’ and ‘Bheegi Bheegi Raaton Mein’, which played a key role in shaping India’s pop music landscape.
Sami has also achieved several global milestones during his career. Among them, he became the first Asian artist to sell out two consecutive nights at Wembley Arena, marking a major moment for South Asian musicians on the international stage. Through this collaboration with Zee Music Company, Sami will release a series of original non-film singles, marking a new creative chapter in his musical journey.
Alongside Sami, the label has also signed QARAN, widely regarded as one of the leading architects of modern Indian urban pop. Known for blending Indian melodic elements with contemporary global production styles, QARAN has created widely recognised tracks such as ‘Haaye Oye’ and his breakout hit ‘Tareefan’, which became one of the defining pop crossovers of the past decade.
Commenting on the development, Sujal Parekh, Chief Business Officer at Zee Music Company, said the label is entering an important phase as it expands its vision beyond film soundtracks to build a dynamic platform for artist-led music. He noted that welcoming Adnan Sami is a proud moment for the company given the artist’s extraordinary legacy, while the partnership with QARAN reflects the label’s commitment to supporting the next generation of Indian music creators.
