WhatsApp, a Meta-owned messaging platform, has unveiled a suite of new features aiming to elevate user experience and privacy.
Among these updates, WhatsApp has commenced the rollout of pinned messages, a connection health feature for video calls, and a ‘view once’ option for voice messages specifically for iPhone users.
As per IANS, the introduction of pinned messages empowers users within group chats to prominently display essential messages for specific durations—24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days—offering enhanced control over message visibility. Additionally, users can dismiss pinned messages at any time, regardless of the selected duration, ensuring flexibility and management of content.
Furthermore, the platform introduces a novel capability to evaluate connection health during video calls. By simply long-pressing their video tile, users can access real-time feedback on the quality of their ongoing call connection, optimizing the calling experience.
A significant enhancement in privacy arrives with the ‘view once’ option for voice messages. This feature prohibits recipients from sharing, forwarding, copying, saving, or recording the received voice message, emphasizing privacy and exclusivity for a single playback.
Moreover, WhatsApp has recently launched the Channels Alerts feature for Android beta testers, enhancing the experience for channel administrators. This feature provides real-time alerts regarding potential policy violations, enabling administrators to promptly address issues and even request a review of their channel’s suspension, contributing to a more transparent and accountable platform.
The rollout of these updates reflects WhatsApp‘s ongoing commitment to refining user interactions and ensuring heightened privacy controls for its vast user base.
