Veteran journalist Vedika Sud, who has been at the forefront of some of South Asia’s most defining stories over the past two decades, has joined NDTV 24×7 as Consulting Editor. Sud, a former India Bureau Lead at CNN International, brings nearly 19 years of newsroom experience to NDTV, with her reporting marked by clarity, compassion and a steadfast commitment to factual and uncompromising journalism.

The announcement was made through a press release by NDTV, confirming her appointment to the senior editorial role. It comes as part of the channel’s efforts to further strengthen its newsroom with experienced voices who can provide sharp insights and global perspectives on issues shaping India and the region.

Sud is best known for her fearless on-ground coverage during the COVID-19 Delta wave in 2021, when India faced one of its gravest health crises. Reporting from overwhelmed hospitals and tracing the desperate search for oxygen and lifesaving supplies, she highlighted the human stories of resilience and loss at a time of national emergency. Over the years, she has also covered pivotal moments including the India–Pakistan conflict following the Kashmir terror attack, the G20 Summit 2023 negotiations, the farmers’ protests, the refugee crisis at the India–Myanmar border, and a series of environmental investigations, including Delhi’s landfill crisis.

At CNN International, she was the network’s face across India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan, collaborating with global desks, appearing alongside anchors such as Jake Tapper, Wolf Blitzer and Erin Burnett, and making South Asia’s complexities resonate with international audiences. Before CNN, she held key roles at India Today Group, NewsX and Times Now, where she anchored bulletins, reported on elections, civic issues and security challenges, and mentored young journalists.

Sud is an alumna of Sophia College, Mumbai, and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Social Communications Media from Sophia Polytechnic, as well as a Graduate Certificate in Public Policy from the Takshashila Institution. Her work has been recognised internationally, with an Honourable Mention at the Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA) Awards 2024 for reporting on women’s issues and a finalist spot at the South Asian Journalists Association (SAJA) Awards in 2021.

Welcoming her to the newsroom, Rahul Kanwal, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of NDTV, said, “Vedika is not just a witness to events — she is an interpreter of their meaning. Her intelligence, field experience, and global perspective will strengthen NDTV’s mission to bring depth, accuracy and insight to every story.”

Expressing her excitement about the move, Sud said, “The most powerful stories don’t simply tell you what happened — they help you understand why it matters and who it matters to. NDTV’s legacy has been built on that kind of storytelling, and I am honoured to be part of it. In an age of endless headlines, our responsibility is to cut through the noise, connect the dots, and offer clarity and context that truly inform the public.”

With her appointment, NDTV 24×7 strengthens its editorial core, aiming to deliver journalism that is rigorous, context-rich and deeply connected to the people it serves.
