Vaishnaw inaugurates WAVES Creators’ Corner at AI summit

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated the WAVES Creators’ Corner at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, positioning the initiative as a hands-on innovation hub to showcase the transformative role of artificial intelligence in the AVGC-XR (Animation, VFX, Gaming, Comics and Extended Reality) ecosystem.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the WAVES Creators’ Corner has been conceptualized as a fully operational workspace designed to demonstrate real-world AI applications in media and entertainment. The pavilion is seen as a strategic extension of the Ministry’s key initiatives such as WaveX, Waves Bazaar and the Create in India Challenges, aimed at fostering innovation and strengthening India’s creative technology ecosystem.

During the inaugural walkthrough on February 17, the minister interacted with entrepreneurs from the WaveX startup cohort and senior representatives from global technology and media companies including Adobe, Netflix, Sony and Amazon. The engagement focused on exploring emerging technologies and their potential to reshape content creation and distribution.

A total of 51 AVGC-XR and media technology startups supported by WaveX showcased AI-powered solutions and immersive innovations at the pavilion. The minister also met winners of the Bhasha Setu and Kalaa Setu challenges, highlighting the government’s push to support innovation and entrepreneurship in the media and entertainment sector.

The WAVES Creators’ Corner featured a range of advanced technological demonstrations, including real-time game development platforms, prompt-to-cinema live studios and an agentic AI-powered newsroom developed by Amazon Web Services and BharatGen to enable automated editorial workflows.

As part of the summit’s proceedings, Vaishnaw also participated in a fireside chat with Shradha Sharma of YourStory where he discussed the broader societal impact of artificial intelligence. He emphasised how AI-driven technologies are enabling talent from rural India to build globally competitive startups.

The minister further highlighted the role of the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies in integrating AI into creative education, noting that capacity building and skill development will be critical to preparing the next generation of professionals for evolving industry demands.
