In a defining move for Indian animation on the global stage, Ultra Media & Entertainment Group has officially announced two ambitious new projects ‘The Tarbo’ and ‘The Jungle Boy’ during the prestigious Cannes Film Market 2025. These high-concept animated titles represent the studio’s bold pivot into globally resonant storytelling, blending Indian narrative sensibilities with international-scale production values.
As per a press release shared by Ultra Media & Entertainment Group, both titles were previewed to a select group of international buyers and key industry stakeholders at Cannes, signalling the studio’s intention to position India as a serious player in the world of premium animation. With its legacy of over 40 years in content creation and distribution, Ultra’s latest creative venture brings to life two deeply emotional and visually stunning universes designed to engage audiences beyond borders.
The Tarbo, a feature-length animated film, transports viewers to a prehistoric era teeming with peril and primeval wonder. Although plot details remain tightly held, the film is set to explore themes of survival, betrayal, and redemption through the eyes of fantastical jungle creatures. The narrative promises an emotionally immersive journey anchored in ancient bonds, environmental shifts, and a hauntingly beautiful setting.
Meanwhile, ‘The Jungle Boy’, an episodic series, delivers a gripping adventure set in the heart of East Africa’s wilderness. It follows a boy raised in the jungle, whose mysterious link with nature holds the key to a larger battle between ecological preservation and looming modern-day threats. Layered with action, heart, and purpose, the series is expected to spark conversation around environmental consciousness and the resilience of indigenous identity.
“These are not just animated stories they are cinematic experiences with universal emotions,” said Rajat Agrawal, COO and Director of Ultra Media & Entertainment Group. “With The Tarbo and The Jungle Boy, we aim to tell Indian stories with an international soul. It’s about merging powerful visuals, timeless values, and immersive storytelling to reach hearts across the globe.”
In addition to its animation leap, Ultra is also gearing up for Guru Dutt@100, a nationwide celebration of the legendary filmmaker’s centenary in July 2025. The month-long tribute will include global film screenings, curated exhibitions, and panel discussions — a heartfelt initiative to revive and honour one of India’s most iconic cinematic voices.
On the digital front, the group continues to scale its reach through platforms like Ultra Jhakaas (dedicated to Marathi content), Ultra Play (featuring classic Indian cinema), and Ultra Gaane (curating Hindi music video content). These digital verticals reinforce Ultra’s broader vision — to preserve, promote, and deliver culturally rich Indian content to audiences worldwide.
