The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has extended the feedback deadline for two consultation papers — ‘Ease of Doing Business in Telecom and Broadcasting Sector’ and ‘Promoting Local Manufacturing in the Television Broadcasting Sector’ — for the second time on requests from the stakeholders.
The regulator said Wednesday keeping in view the current pandemic situation and requests received from industry associations and stakeholders for additional time for submission of comments, it has been decided to further extend the last date for submission of written comments and counter comments.
The new submission deadlines for both the discussion papers are February 9, 2022, with counter-comments date being February 23.
While the paper on EODB was aimed to streamline the regulatory and licensing processes further as stakeholders had complained cumbersome and time-consuming paperwork slowed down business-decision making, the paper on boosting local manufacturing is part of the PM Modi government’s overall push to make India more self-reliant in various sectors, including manufacturing.
