NDTV has announced the appointment of Tarini Kumar as Senior Executive Editor for its flagship English news channel, NDTV 24×7. In her new role, Kumar will be at the helm of the channel’s output operations, leading the editorial direction, overseeing daily news coverage, planning programming strategy, and ensuring high-quality content delivery across all time slots.
With nearly two decades of rich experience in television news, Kumar brings deep editorial acumen and a nuanced understanding of broadcast workflows. She spent over 15 years at India Today TV, rising through the ranks from a programming producer to Executive Editor. Her tenure was marked by her pivotal role in anchoring national events, especially during elections and major special coverage blocks that demanded precision, agility, and sound editorial judgment.
Before India Today TV, she served as Deputy News Editor at CNN-News18, where she was responsible for managing high-stakes prime-time news programming. Her career has been defined by her ability to deliver under pressure, maintain editorial integrity, and innovate in content presentation.
In a statement, NDTV CEO and Editor-in-Chief Rahul Kanwal welcomed her appointment, saying, “Tarini’s extensive experience in output leadership and content strategy will strengthen NDTV’s editorial operations and programming depth. She knows news, she knows the people – her arrival brings a renewed focus on fostering strong teamwork and creating workflows that can respond swiftly to breaking developments without compromising on our legacy of editorial rigour.”
Kumar’s addition to the senior editorial leadership reflects NDTV’s commitment to evolving its newsroom with forward-looking talent, while staying grounded in its long-standing principles of trust, accuracy, and credible journalism. Her leadership is expected to bring a fresh thrust to NDTV’s programming, especially as the channel continues to compete in a rapidly shifting news environment.
