‘Sky Force’ soars high with Rs 92.90cr worldwide Box office in first weekend

The action-drama ‘Sky Force’, featuring Akshay Kumar and newcomer Veer Pahariya, has taken the box office by storm, earning an impressive Rs 92.90cr globally in its first three days. Released on January 24, 2025, ahead of Republic Day, the film has captivated audiences with its gripping narrative and patriotic undertone.

Directed by Sandeep Kewlani and Abhishek Kapur, ‘Sky Force’ is billed as the untold story of India’s first and deadliest airstrike during the 1965 India-Pakistan War. The movie follows IAF officer T Vijaya (played by Veer Pahariya), who goes missing in action, and his fellow officer KO Ahuja (Akshay Kumar), who embarks on a daring mission to find him.

Adding depth to the narrative are performances by Nimrat Kaur and Sara Ali Khan, who play pivotal roles in this high-stakes drama that combines action, emotion, and patriotism.

Maddock Films, the production banner behind the movie, shared the impressive box office figures on social media, highlighting its strong reception during the Republic Day weekend.
Day 1 (Wednesday): Rs 15.30 crore
Day 2 (Thursday): Rs 26.30 crore
Day 3 (Friday): Rs 31.60 crore

This brings the film’s total domestic collection to Rs 86.40 crore, with a worldwide gross of Rs 92.90 crore.

The patriotic theme and Akshay Kumar’s compelling performance have resonated strongly with audiences. The film’s action sequences, gripping storyline, and focus on the bravery of the Indian Air Force have drawn praise from critics and moviegoers alike. Veer Pahariya, making his debut as T Vijaya, has also garnered attention for his promising performance.

‘Sky Force’ is well on its way to becoming a major box office success. With its strong weekend performance and positive word-of-mouth, the film is expected to maintain its momentum in the coming weeks, especially as it continues to capitalize on Republic Day fervor.
