Sony BBC Earth has recognized Shaan Lalwani as its ‘Earth Champion’ for the month, highlighting her commitment to environmental conservation through her creation of a biodegradable cleaning detergent formula.
Lalwani’s eco-friendly initiative began after witnessing the devastating effects of chemical pollution on marine life during her travels. This inspired her to develop a sustainable alternative, leading to the founding of Coco Custo—a company that produces non-toxic, biodegradable laundry detergents.
The ‘Earth Champions’ initiative by Sony BBC Earth celebrates individuals who advocate for sustainability in everyday life, contributing to environmental preservation. The monthly program showcases their work through short-form content that is aired on the channel and promoted online, spotlighting their efforts to drive meaningful change.
Rohan Jain, Business Operations Head at Sony AATH and Head of Marketing & Insights for Sony Pictures Networks India’s English Cluster, expressed his excitement about Lalwani’s recognition. He said, “Our Earth Champions initiative embodies our commitment to presenting stories that inspire and promote sustainable practices. We are thrilled to announce Shaan Lalwani as our latest Earth Champion, recognizing her eco-conscious efforts to make a difference.”
Shaan Lalwani, founder of Coco Custo, expressed her gratitude for the recognition, saying, “It is an honor to receive the title of Earth Champion by Sony BBC Earth. I hope my story inspires others to take small steps towards conserving the environment.”
