The mythological drama ‘Shaakuntalam,’ starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu, will be released in theaters worldwide on February 17.
The Telugu film was originally scheduled to be released on November 4, 2022, but it was postponed so that audiences could experience the love story in 3D.
Samantha announced the new release date for ‘Shaakuntalam’ on her official Twitter page on Monday.
“Watch the #EpicLoveStory #Shaakuntalam in theaters worldwide beginning February 17th, 2023!” “Also in 3D,” she added in a tweet.
Gunasekhar (‘Rudhramadevi’) wrote and directed the film, which is based on Kalidasa’s acclaimed Sanskrit play ‘Abhijnana Shakuntalam’.
Billed as a whimsical tale, ‘Shaakuntalam’ revolves around the epic love story of Shakuntala and King Dushyant, portrayed by ‘Yashoda’ star Samantha and Dev Mohan of ‘Sufiyum Sujatayum’ fame, respectively.
Dil Raju presents the film through Sri Venkateswara Creations in collaboration with Gunaa Teamworks, and Neelima Guna produces.
The film’s cast also includes Sachin Khedekar, Kabir Bedi, Dr M Mohan Babu, Prakash Raj, Madhubala, Gautami, Aditi Balan, Ananya Nagalla, and Jisshu Sengupta.
‘Shaakuntalam’ will be released in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada, among other languages.
