Seethalakshmi V Iyer has been appointed Senior Vice President – Entertainment Ad Sales for the Tamil and Malayalam cluster at JioStar, a development she confirmed via a LinkedIn update.
Iyer transitioned into this senior mandate after serving as Director–Sales at JioStar since November 2024. With over a decade of domain expertise in regional broadcast and entertainment ad sales, she brings deep market understanding and leadership experience to her new role.
The move gained significance as the company’s streaming platform, JioHotstar, on December 9 announced over $400 million investment over a five-year period in South Indian content at an event in Chennai attended by the State’s Deputy CM Udaynidhi Stalin and actor-politician Kamal Haasan, amongst others.
Prior to joining JioStar, she held the position of Director–Ad Sales (Tamil GEC Cluster) at The Walt Disney Company from January 2022 to March 2025, where she was responsible for driving revenue strategies, strengthening advertiser relations, and scaling the performance of the Tamil entertainment portfolio.
Her earlier professional assignments span key roles at Star TV and Zee Entertainment Enterprises, where she worked extensively across regional ad sales functions, contributing to both revenue growth and market expansion.
Iyer’s appointment reinforces JioStar’s strategic focus on strengthening its regional ad sales leadership across South India, particularly in high-growth entertainment markets such as Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
