Red FM is bringing back its much-loved cultural showcase ‘South Side Story’, and this time, the spotlight is on Onam.
The special edition of the annual celebration of Southern Indian culture is set to take place on August 30 and 31, 2025, in New Delhi. Promising an experience that is both soulful and immersive, the event will blend the musical, culinary, and artistic essence of South India under one roof.
In a statement issued by Red FM, the network shared its plans to turn up the cultural volume even before the main event. Collaborations with DC Books and the Kerala Literature Festival will offer pre-event literary conversations and curated reading sessions, creating an atmosphere of thoughtful engagement and storytelling ahead of the festival weekend.
A highlight of the Onam edition will be the Onam Sadhya, a traditional and elaborate 20-dish feast that is synonymous with the festival. Food lovers can expect authentic flavours and time-honoured recipes that celebrate Kerala’s culinary heritage. Alongside the feast, attendees can engage with stunning art installations, indie film screenings, and curated showcases reflecting the Southern states’ rich diversity.
Red FM is also rolling out a powerful artist lineup that bridges genres and generations — bringing together some of the South’s most celebrated musical voices. This includes Avial, Thaikkudam Bridge, The Raghu Dixit Project, TM Krishna, Storyteller the Band, Wild Wild Women, Aattam Kalasamithi, Sooraj Santhosh Live, Job Kurian, and the legendary Shobana. From folk-rock and rap to indie and classical, the performances will reflect the full spectrum of the South’s musical soul.
Nisha Narayanan, Director & COO of RED FM and Magic FM, said, “In a world of commercial entertainment and fleeting trends, South Side Story continues to be our honest attempt at putting culture front and centre. This year’s Onam Special edition is a celebration of identities, flavours, and stories that make the South what it is—diverse, rooted, and rich.”
