The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) has ordered the immediate shutdown of the studio premises where the popular reality show ‘Bigg Boss Kannada‘ is being filmed, citing serious breaches of environmental laws.
The order, issued on October 6, directs Vels Studios and Entertainment Private Limited (Jolly Wood Studios & Adventures), located at Bidadi in Bengaluru South district, to halt all operations at once, according to a PTI report.
The Board stated in its notice that the premises were being used for “large-scale entertainment and studio operations” without obtaining the mandatory Consent for Establishment and Consent for Operation under the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, and the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981.
“In view of the violations observed, you are hereby directed to close down the operations with immediate effect and to furnish an explanation to this office within the stipulated period,” the KSPCB said in its official communication. The Board also warned that failure to comply would invite strict penal action under applicable environmental laws.
The ‘Bigg Boss Kannada‘ studio, located in a sprawling setup at Bidadi, has hosted the reality show for several years. The show, which is one of Karnataka’s most popular television programmes, is hosted by actor Kichcha Sudeep and is known for its grand production design, elaborate sets, and massive viewer following.
