In a significant leap for the convergence of technology and cinema, Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM)-backed startup Pixel Pupa has launched India’s first-ever AI filmmaking course. The three-month hybrid program, introduced under the newly established School of Storytelling, is designed to fuse creative storytelling with cutting-edge AI tools, heralding a new era in digital filmmaking education.
According to a UNI report, renowned actor and Member of Parliament Kamal Haasan inaugurated the School of Storytelling and unveiled its official portal at a ceremony in Kochi. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan lauded the initiative, describing it as a reflection of Kerala’s progress in both social and technological spheres.
The Kochi-based school will be spearheaded by Varun Ramesh, a leading AI industry trainer and generative AI storyteller. Students will benefit from a curriculum crafted by a team of accomplished filmmakers, technicians, and AI experts from across South India. The program includes online sessions, live workshops, AI creative labs, and interactive sessions led by prominent content creators and technicians from the Malayalam film industry.
Beyond filmmaking, the School of Storytelling also offers specialized programmes in AI Photography, AI Cinematography, AI VFX and AI Animation, providing a comprehensive introduction to the future of digital storytelling. With this initiative, Pixel Pupa aims to equip aspiring filmmakers with the skills to harness artificial intelligence in creative production, ensuring India stays at the forefront of technological innovation in cinema.
