The producers of the Malayalam film ‘Jai Shree Ram Janmabhoomi Keezhcha’ (JSK) have informed the Kerala High Court that the film received clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on July 11 and is scheduled for release this week.
As per a PTI report yesterday, this development comes amidst a legal challenge against the film’s release, with petitioners alleging it could disturb communal harmony. The producers, however, assured the court that ‘JSK’ had followed all due processes and obtained the necessary certification to be screened publicly. The court was also told that the movie’s content does not violate any guidelines set by the CBFC and that the narrative was handled responsibly.
The bench was hearing a public interest litigation filed against the release of the film, raising concerns about its thematic elements. The petitioners argued that the film, based on sensitive religious issues, could trigger tensions in certain parts of the state. However, the producers clarified that the content had been reviewed and cleared without any objection by the censor board, and they intend to go ahead with the scheduled release.
The Kerala High Court has not yet passed a stay on the release and is expected to hear further arguments later this week. Meanwhile, promotional activities for ‘JSK’ have already begun across social media and local outlets.
