Instagram is rolling out a fresh wave of updates that give users more control over how they share and showcase content from real-time Spotify track sharing to flexible profile customization — all in line with its mission to lower the pressure around posting and elevate creativity.
The highlight of this release is real-time Spotify integration through Instagram Notes. Users can now share the song they’re currently listening to, including track name and artist, directly above their DM inbox — offering an instant, low-pressure way to connect through music. This builds upon Instagram’s existing tie-up with Spotify, which already allowed music sharing through Stories and profile links.
Another much-awaited feature is the ability to reorder posts on the profile grid. This gives users — particularly creators and businesses — a long-requested option to redesign their feed’s layout without needing to delete or archive any content. The flexibility is expected to help users better maintain aesthetic or thematic consistency.
As Instagram continues refining user experience amid growing competition from platforms like TikTok and YouTube Shorts, the app is also testing a ‘quiet post’ feature. Users will soon be able to post content to their profile that doesn’t appear in followers’ feeds, allowing more room for personal updates without the performance anxiety often tied to algorithmic exposure. Instagram head Adam Mosseri confirmed the experiment in a recent update.
These new features are being launched alongside Instagram’s 15th anniversary, marking a period of reflection and reimagination for the app that has grown from a photo-sharing platform into a dynamic creative ecosystem.
Other recent initiatives underscore that shift includes the following:
· Trial Reels: A new feature where creators can test Reels with non-followers first to gauge engagement before a full rollout.
· Edits with AI-powered tools: Instagram’s native video editor now includes a “restyle” feature for instant visual transformation, streamlining content polish on mobile.
· Drafts program: A new support system for emerging creators, offering funding, mentorship, and brand collaborations. Names like Tyrell Hampton and Sailorr are already participating.
· New font inspired by Rosalía’s handwriting: Now available in Stories and Reels, the font adds a distinct personal flair for storytelling.
