Ambika Khurana, who till a few months back headed the regulatory and public policy div at Netflix India, has joined telecom company Vodafone Idea Ltd as Chief Regulatory & Corporate Affairs Officer.
The telco said in a statement that the appointment was effective September 23. Khurana, it is said, joins after Vodafone Idea’s P. Balaji, who looked after legal and public policy at the telecom firm, joined early January Air India as Group Head- Governance, Regulatory, Compliance & Corporate Affairs.
Khurana, 48, has over 25 years of experience in government relations and public policy and has expertise in fields like regulatory compliance, corporate affairs, communications, external affairs, AI, cloud management, digital transformation, data management, etc. and digital payments.
She has also worked with organizations such as TCS and HCL and joined Netflix India after doing a stint at IBM.
Vodafone Idea Signs Mega Deal With Network Partners: In a regulatory filing, the telecom company said it has concluded a mega USD 3.6 billion deal with Nokia, Ericsson and Samsung, for supply of network equipment over a period of three years.
The deal marks the first step towards the rollout of the company’s transformative three-year capex plan of USD 6.6 billion, the company said, adding the capex programme is directed towards expanding the 4G population coverage from 1.03 billion to 1.2 billion, launching 5G in key markets and capacity expansion in line with data growth.
These contracts, Vi added, will allow it to quickly capitalize on the latest state-of-the-art equipment to offer enhanced customer experience. Further, the learnings and insights obtained by the vendors in the Indian market over the last two years, will enable the company to embark on a more flexible and modular rollout plan by customising the services for all advanced technologies (4G and 5G).
