Eros Innovation has announced the launch of its Large Cultural Voice Models (LCVM) from Chennai yesterday, alongside the unveiling of ‘PERSONA’, a sovereign voice and identity infrastructure designed to power multilingual artificial intelligence rooted in culture.

The initiative aims to preserve emotional expression, linguistic nuance and identity across languages while advancing culturally grounded AI development.

According to a press release, the launch took place in Chennai in the presence of M. K. Stalin, marking a major step in the company’s cultural AI roadmap. The development follows the earlier debut of India’s first Large Cultural Model (LCM) at the AI Impact Summit, aligned with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and the IndiaAI Mission. LCVM represents the voice-layer evolution of the platform, engineered not merely to translate language but to preserve emotion, cadence, identity and regional nuance across multilingual communication.

As part of the initiative, the company plans to establish advanced AI infrastructure, research clusters and voice technology ecosystems across Tamil Nadu. The first phase of the project is expected to generate over 1,000 direct high-skill AI and engineering jobs, strengthening the state’s emergence as a global hub for culturally rooted AI innovation. With its strong linguistic heritage and the enduring legacy of Thiruvalluvar, Tamil Nadu is being positioned as a leader in ethically aligned voice AI development.

Chief Minister M. K. Stalin said the initiative reflects the state’s commitment to strengthening employment and economic development. He noted that ErosGen AI, in collaboration with Indian Institute of Technology Madras, has established the Large Cultural Voice Models initiative in Chennai, describing the project as a significant step towards innovation-led growth.

The company also introduced PersonaAI, a performance-aware system designed to translate not just words but tone, rhythm and emotional expression across languages. Built on Eros’s rights-cleared cultural archive of nearly 1.5 trillion multimodal tokens spanning over 12,000 titles, the platform seeks to extend cultural intelligence into voice and identity. It focuses on preserving individual expression while enabling responsible access to licensed creative intellectual property.

Ridhima Lulla, Co-Founder and Co-President of Eros Innovation, described the launch as the result of years of research into culturally grounded AI systems. She emphasised that identity should be treated as a sovereign digital asset and said PersonaAI aims to remove language barriers while preserving character and cultural nuance. She added that the company’s collaboration with IIT Madras will ensure ethical governance, consent and traceability in the use of voice technologies.

Tamil Nadu’s Minister for Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce, Dr. TRB Rajaa, highlighted the importance of developing AI systems that reflect India’s culture, language and creativity. He said initiatives like LCVM are not just technological advancements but also efforts to build responsible and inclusive AI ecosystems rooted in Indian narratives and creative industries.

The Large Cultural Voice Models are being developed in collaboration with IIT Madras, focusing on multilingual speech intelligence, AI governance and scalable public-impact applications. Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, said the collaboration has the potential to set new benchmarks in culturally grounded voice technologies by combining linguistic depth, performance fidelity and robust ethical safeguards.

Together, LCVM and PersonaAI aim to create a sovereign multilingual voice infrastructure trained across Indian languages, regional accents and cinematic expression. With performance-aware speech-to-speech dubbing in more than 60 languages, consent-first identity protection and built-in governance frameworks, the platform is designed to enable responsible AI deployment across storytelling, education and enterprise applications.
