As actor Dulquer Salmaan celebrated his birthday yesterday, he surprised his fans with a special gift the announcement of the title of his upcoming multi-lingual film, ‘Kaantha’.
In an exciting collaboration, Dulquer Salmaan not only stars in ‘Kaantha’ but also takes on the role of a producer, teaming up with ‘Baahubali‘ star Rana Daggubati.
The highly-anticipated film will be helmed by director Selvam Selvaraj, acclaimed for his debut feature ‘Nila’ (2016), which received the audience award at the Cinequest San Jose Film Festival. Selvaraj is also known for his documentary series “The Hunt for Veerappan”, set to premiere on Netflix on August 4. Notably, he has previously worked with the renowned director Ang Lee on ‘Life of Pi’, PTI reported.
Sending warm wishes to Dulquer Salmaan on his birthday, Rana Daggubati stated, “We are always on the lookout for unique but universally appealing stories, and ‘Kaantha’ undoubtedly fits that vision. Collaborating with Dulquer and having a brilliant director like Selvamani Selvaraj on board is truly rewarding, and for my friend Dulquer, this is a delightful gift from the team to celebrate his birthday, along with millions of his fans.”
The film, titled ‘Kaantha’, promises to present Dulquer in an unprecedented role, adding to the excitement among his fans.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Dulquer Salmaan said in a statement, “Kaantha is extremely close to my heart, and I’ve been eager to bring this to life since the day I heard the story, as it’s unlike anything we’ve seen in Indian cinema. To produce this alongside Rana’s production house and to perform one of the most challenging roles in my career is definitely an exciting journey that I am looking forward to.”
Director Selvamani Selvaraj echoed the sentiment, saying, “The story of Kaantha is brought to the screen with the conviction of two people I deeply admire and respect, Rana Daggubati and Dulquer Salmaan. The centerpiece of the film is the acting prowess of Dulquer, and I am honored to weave this dream with someone as talented and rooted as him.”
