News18 Lokmat has been officially rebranded as News18 Marathi, with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis unveiling the channel’s new brand identity, marking a significant milestone in its journey within the state’s media landscape. The refreshed identity reflects the channel’s sharpened focus on Maharashtra while aligning it more closely with the national News18 network.
According to a press release issued by Network18, the rebranding follows the group’s full acquisition of IBN Lokmat News Pvt. Ltd. in October last year, after which the channel became a wholly owned subsidiary of Network18. The transition to News18 Marathi is aimed at strengthening the channel’s editorial positioning by blending a strong national perspective with deep-rooted, hyper-local reporting across Maharashtra.
The new brand identity reinforces the channel’s positioning as “Awaaz Maharashtracha,” underscoring its role as the voice of the state. Over the years, the channel has built an undisputed leadership position in the Marathi news space, earning the trust of Marathi-speaking audiences through an extensive bureau network, consistent on-ground reporting, and a sharp editorial lens on issues that matter to the state.
The channel has retained its position as the number one Marathi news channel for over a year, driven by high viewer engagement and a strong programming lineup. Flagship shows such as ‘Bade Mudde’, ‘Mulukh Maharashtra’ and ‘Apla Maharashtra’ have emerged as marquee properties, anchoring the channel’s leadership and reinforcing its connect with viewers.
Going forward, News18 Marathi will continue to focus on credible, fast-paced journalism, with sharper coverage of governance, civic issues, culture and development across Maharashtra. With the rebranding, Network18 is looking to further consolidate its leadership in the regional news market while ensuring that the channel remains deeply connected to the aspirations and concerns of the people of Maharashtra.
