Nasdaq-listed cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase Inc. has appointed the former head of Snap India, Durgesh Kaushik, to lead the company’s growth in emerging markets.
According to Economic Times, Kaushik, who joined Snap Inc. in 2019 had quit Snap, whereas Coinbase confirmed Kaushik’s appointment.
Durgesh is joining Coinbase to scale its operations in India and also support Coinbase’s entry into other markets in the Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, and the Americas.
Coinbase has plans to triple its employee base in India to 1,000 and continue investing in web3 startups, its cofounder Brian Armstrong had announced on April 4. Its corporate venture arm Coinbase Ventures has invested $150 million in Indian web3 startups including CoinDCX and CoinSwitch Kuber.
