Global Punjabi music icon AP Dhillon is set to expand his musical horizon by teaming up with Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr for his highly anticipated extended play (EP) titled ‘The Brownprint.’ The collaboration marks a groundbreaking cultural fusion between the Punjabi and Afrobeat genres, reflecting a bold new direction for Dhillon.
Known for hits like ‘Excuses’ and ‘Brown Munde,’ Dhillon shared a teaser on social media, giving fans a glimpse into the EP’s theme, which celebrates the strength and pride of the Punjabi community. The teaser, along with artwork featuring Ayra Starr, has already generated excitement among his global fanbase, IANS reported.
The track ‘Bora Bora,’ blending Punjabi beats with Afrobeats rhythms, is one of the highlights of the EP. This partnership with Ayra Starr marks her debut collaboration within the Indian subcontinent, further boosting the cross-cultural appeal of the project. The EP is set to explore a variety of genres, with themes centered on community, culture, and celebration, making it a significant milestone in Dhillon’s career.
Dhillon, who began his musical journey in 2019 with the single ‘Fake’ under his independent label Run-Up Records, has rapidly risen to global stardom. His songs like ‘Deadly,’ ‘Majhail,’ and the iconic ‘Brown Munde’ have propelled him into the international music scene. His recent appearance at the 2023 Juno Awards in Canada solidified his status as a Punjabi music pioneer on the global stage.
