Actor Aaron Pierre has joined the cast of the upcoming ‘Superman’ sequel titled ‘Man of Tomorrow’, directed by James Gunn. The film is being developed by DC Studios and is scheduled to release in theatres on July 9, 2027.
According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Pierre will portray John Stewart, one of the iconic Green Lantern characters in the DC Universe. Stewart is depicted as a member of the intergalactic law enforcement agency known as the Green Lantern Corps, a group of space guardians responsible for protecting Earth and other sectors of the universe.
Pierre has gained recognition in recent years for his performances in projects such as Rebel Ridge and the acclaimed television series The Underground Railroad. His casting marks a significant addition to the evolving DC cinematic universe under Gunn’s creative leadership.
The screenplay for ‘Man of Tomorrow’ has been written by Gunn himself, who is also overseeing the project as part of DC Studios’ broader reboot strategy for its superhero franchise. Production for the film is expected to begin in Atlanta, a major hub for Hollywood film and television production.
With the introduction of John Stewart into the storyline, the sequel is expected to expand the DC Universe’s cosmic narrative while continuing the story of the Man of Steel. The film’s release in 2027 positions it as one of the key upcoming projects in DC Studios’ long-term slate of superhero films.
