Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is set to team up with celebrated Tamil filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj for a new project. The news has stirred widespread anticipation among fans and the film industry alike, marking a crossover that blends two distinct cinematic legacies.
According to a PTI report, Aamir Khan has confirmed that he will be producing the film under his banner, Aamir Khan Productions. Lokesh Kanagaraj, who has become one of the most sought-after directors in the Tamil film industry with hits like ‘Kaithi’, ‘Master’, and ‘Vikram’, will helm the yet-untitled film. This will be the first time the two creative powerhouses will collaborate, and discussions are reportedly in advanced stages.
Speaking to the press, Khan expressed his enthusiasm for the project. “Yes, I am producing the film. Lokesh is directing it. We are very excited about it,” he said. However, he refrained from revealing whether he would be acting in the film, stating that casting decisions were still being finalised and an official announcement would be made soon.
Kanagaraj’s unique storytelling style—marked by gritty narratives, interconnected universes, and mass appeal—has given rise to what is now popularly referred to as the “Lokesh Cinematic Universe” (LCU). The director’s last outing, Leo, starring Vijay, was a commercial blockbuster and further solidified his reputation for delivering pan-India hits.
The potential collaboration with Aamir Khan signals Lokesh’s Hindi film debut, though the film is expected to retain its Tamil core while appealing to a national audience. If Aamir also steps into an acting role, it would mark his return to the screen after Laal Singh Chaddha (2022), a film that, despite underwhelming box office numbers, was praised for Khan’s performance.
Details regarding the genre, supporting cast, and production timelines remain under wraps, but insiders suggest the film will be a high-octane action drama in line with Lokesh’s signature style. Given the pedigree of both Khan and Kanagaraj, expectations are understandably sky-high.
This partnership could also represent a strategic shift for Khan, who has often been selective with his projects and is now taking a deeper interest in backing stories that push boundaries across languages and regions.
An official announcement from Aamir Khan Productions and Lokesh Kanagaraj is expected shortly.
