The India Today Group is set to host the third edition of the India Today Indo-Japan Conclave in New Delhi on May 22, bringing together policymakers, diplomats, business leaders and strategic experts from India and Japan to discuss opportunities for deeper collaboration across trade, technology, manufacturing, infrastructure, skills development and culture.

According to an India Today Group press release, the conclave will be held under the theme ‘The New Growth Corridor’, reflecting the growing importance of the India-Japan partnership at a time when global supply chains are undergoing major shifts and Asian economies are seeking more resilient and sustainable growth models. The event is presented by the Government of Haryana and powered by Daikin and FedEx, with Takeda as the Health Partner and Toki as the Celebration Partner.

The day-long conclave will focus on strengthening economic and strategic ties between the two countries while exploring new avenues for cooperation. Discussions will cover manufacturing partnerships, technology corridors, urban development, talent exchange and cultural engagement, all of which are increasingly shaping the next phase of India-Japan relations.

Speaking ahead of the event, Raj Chengappa, Editorial Director, Publishing, India Today Group, said the relationship between India and Japan has long been built on trust, strategic alignment and a shared vision for the future. He noted that the next phase of cooperation will be driven not only by diplomatic engagement but also by collaboration in manufacturing, technology, urban transformation, skills development and cultural exchange.

The conclave will feature a distinguished lineup of speakers, including Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Sardar Taranjit Singh Sandhu and Japanese Ambassador to India Ono Keiichi.

The programme will begin with a welcome address by Raj Chengappa, followed by a special address from Ambassador Ono Keiichi on expanding the growth horizon between India and Japan. Several high-profile sessions will examine key aspects of the bilateral relationship, including infrastructure, trade, investment, defence cooperation, technology and workforce development.

One of the major discussions will focus on how Japanese expertise in mobility, infrastructure and urban planning can contribute to Delhi’s future development. Another session will showcase Haryana’s investment and industrial growth strategy as the state seeks to strengthen international partnerships.

Manufacturing will remain a central theme throughout the conclave. Industry leaders will explore how India’s scale and market potential can complement Japan’s renowned engineering excellence and process-driven manufacturing culture. Discussions will also examine whether India can emerge as a global production hub for Japanese companies.

The event will further highlight opportunities in technology, talent development and investment flows. Senior government officials and business leaders are expected to discuss how both nations can build stronger technology partnerships and address Japan’s growing demand for skilled professionals through deeper collaboration with India.

Beyond economics and industry, the conclave will also explore the cultural dimension of the relationship. Sessions on anime, manga, consumer brands and people-to-people exchanges will showcase how cultural ties are becoming an increasingly important pillar of India-Japan engagement.

The India Today Indo-Japan Conclave has evolved into a significant platform for dialogue between the two countries since its launch. Building on the success of its previous editions, the 2026 conclave aims to create actionable discussions and partnerships that can further strengthen one of Asia’s most important strategic relationships.
