A sequel to the iconic Bollywood film ‘3 Idiots’ is officially in the works, with Aamir Khan confirming that the project has entered the pre-production stage. The upcoming film is expected to reunite the original cast, including R. Madhavan and Sharman Joshi, bringing back one of Hindi cinema’s most loved on-screen trios.
According to an IANS report, the sequel will reportedly feature a major time jump, showing the central characters in a completely different stage of life compared to the 2009 blockbuster. While the makers are yet to reveal details about the storyline, the film is expected to revisit the emotional and social themes that made the original resonate with audiences across generations.
The original ‘3 Idiots’, directed by Rajkumar Hirani, became a cultural phenomenon upon release. The film explored India’s education system through humour, friendship, and emotional storytelling, while also delivering memorable performances from its lead cast.
Alongside Aamir Khan, Madhavan, and Sharman Joshi, the film also starred Kareena Kapoor Khan and Boman Irani in pivotal roles.
Over the years, speculation around a sequel had surfaced multiple times, especially after the cast members hinted at possible discussions during interviews and reunions. The latest confirmation from Khan has now reignited excitement among fans, many of whom have long hoped to see Rancho, Farhan, and Raju return to the big screen together.
