GTC Punjabi has announced the launch of the Jaswinder Bhalla Memorial GTC Comedy Awards, a first-of-its-kind initiative dedicated to celebrating the legacy of one of Punjab’s most loved comedic voices, Jaswinder Bhalla.
According to a GTC press release, the awards were unveiled by Dr. Rabindra Narayan, Founder and Managing Director of GTC Network, at a special function held in Mohali on the birth anniversary of the late comedian. The event brought together prominent names from the Punjabi entertainment industry, including Karamjit Anmol, Sherry Maan, and Pukhraj Bhalla, and was attended by Punjab Tourism and Culture Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond.
Jaswinder Bhalla’s contribution to Punjabi comedy has been widely regarded as both distinctive and enduring. Known for his warm, relatable humour, his work connected deeply with audiences across generations, often bringing families together through storytelling that was rooted in everyday life.

The newly announced awards are envisioned as a tribute to that legacy, recognising performers, writers, and creators who continue to carry forward the spirit of Punjabi comedy. The platform aims to not only honour established talent but also create opportunities for emerging voices in the industry.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Narayan said that Bhalla’s work went beyond humour, creating a sense of belonging and emotional connection for audiences. He added that the awards are intended to preserve that tradition while offering a meaningful stage for the next generation of talent.
The Jaswinder Bhalla Memorial GTC Comedy Awards will be presented on GTC Punjabi, with further details regarding categories, nominations, and telecast schedules expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
