Kartik Aaryan-starrer ‘Naagzilla’ has locked a new release date, with the makers announcing that the comedy-adventure film will now arrive in cinemas on February 12, 2027. The announcement was made alongside the unveiling of the film’s poster, confirming a shift from its earlier scheduled release of August 4, 2026.
According to an IANS report, the film is directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, best known for helming the popular ‘Fukrey’ franchise. ‘Naagzilla’ promises a quirky cinematic world inspired by Indian folklore, centred around shape-shifting snakes and a larger-than-life narrative rooted in fantasy and humour.
Backed by a strong production team including Karan Johar, Mahaveer Jain, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, and Neetu M Jain, the film is positioned as a big-scale entertainer. Kartik had first announced the project in April last year with a striking motion poster that showed him in a dramatic avatar, standing amid a snake-filled lair overlooking a cityscape. At the time, he had teased the film as a unique “naag” story, blending mythology with mainstream appeal.
The film’s concept taps into the enduring fascination with serpent lore in Indian storytelling, aiming to deliver a mix of spectacle, humour, and fantasy. With its revised release date, the makers appear to be positioning the film for a wider theatrical window in early 2027.
Meanwhile, the actor has maintained a relatively low public profile in recent weeks after his name surfaced in an online controversy involving alleged interactions on Snapchat. The claims, however, remain unverified and largely stem from anonymous social media posts, with no official confirmation.
On the professional front, Kartik was last seen in ‘Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri’, which underperformed at the box office despite a festive release. The film struggled to sustain momentum, especially when compared to his earlier commercial success with ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’, which had performed strongly in theatres.
