Ajay Devgn is likely to reunite with filmmaker Om Raut for another historical epic, this time centred on the story of an unsung Maratha warrior, signalling a possible expansion of their successful ‘Unsung Warrior’ franchise.
According to a UNI report, the project is currently in advanced discussion stages, with both actor and director exploring a new narrative that builds on the legacy of their earlier hit ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior’. The film is expected to continue the theme of bringing lesser-known historical heroes to the forefront through large-scale cinematic storytelling.
Sources suggest that Devgn has been waiting for the right subject to take the franchise forward, and immediately responded positively when Raut presented the story of another Maratha warrior. The actor is said to be enthusiastic about the project and keen to ensure it matches the scale and impact of their previous collaboration.
Early development is already underway, with Devgn reportedly asking Raut and his team at NY VFXWala to work on a tentative budget. The focus at this stage is on conceptual planning and world-building, with an emphasis on delivering a grand visual experience while maintaining financial discipline.
Multiple meetings between Devgn and Raut have taken place over the past few weeks, with both said to be aligned on the vision of expanding the ‘Unsung Warrior’ universe. While details around casting, timeline and production schedule remain under wraps, the project is expected to move forward once initial groundwork is finalised.
If it materialises as planned, the film could mark another ambitious attempt to blend history with high-end visual storytelling, tapping into the growing audience appetite for culturally rooted, large-scale cinematic spectacles.
