Reliance Jio has appointed media and distribution veteran Anuj Gandhi as Chief Business Officer – Digital Entertainment, strengthening its leadership team as the company sharpens its focus on building a consumer-centric digital entertainment ecosystem in India.
The development was announced by Gandhi in a LinkedIn post, where he shared that he has taken on the role of Chief Business Officer – Digital Entertainment Services at Jio Platforms Limited. In his new position, he will oversee key digital entertainment initiatives including platform strategy for JioTV and JioTV+, operating system strategy for Jio TeleOS, and end-to-end content planning, acquisition, and strategic partnerships.
Gandhi will lead a cross-functional organisation spanning commercial, product, sales, and delivery functions, with a mandate to build a world-class entertainment ecosystem. He said the company aims to create a content-first, consumer-centric platform that redefines how audiences consume media, particularly across connected TV and large-screen experiences.
The appointment marks a return to the company for Gandhi, who previously served as Head of Partnerships for the cable business at Reliance Jio. He brings extensive experience in content monetisation, distribution strategy, and media technology, having worked across multiple leadership roles in India’s broadcast and digital ecosystem.
Prior to rejoining Jio, Gandhi was Founder and CEO of Streambox Media Pvt Ltd., a connected TV-focused venture aimed at transforming home entertainment through content aggregation and personalised user experiences. The company focuses on simplifying content discovery across OTT platforms, live television, gaming, and digital services.
He also founded Plug and Play Entertainment Pvt Ltd., a media technology startup offering connected TV experiences across devices, mobile and web platforms. Earlier in his career, Gandhi served as Group CEO of Indiacast Media Distribution Pvt Ltd., where he led content monetisation for Network18 and Viacom18 businesses, and as CEO of DEN Networks Limited, where he played a key role in establishing the company’s operations.
With over two decades of experience across broadcasting, cable distribution, and digital media, Gandhi’s appointment signals Reliance Jio’s continued push to expand its digital entertainment offerings and strengthen its position in India’s fast-evolving connected TV and streaming landscape.
