Ranbir Kapoor has ruled out the possibility of a sequel to his 2013 hit romantic film ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, putting an end to long-standing speculation among fans.
The actor addressed the demand for a second instalment during a special Valentine’s Day Instagram Live session on the official ARKS account, where he spoke about the film’s enduring popularity and shared updates on his upcoming projects.
According to a UNI report, the interactive session celebrated the continued appeal of ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, even twelve years after its release, and offered fans an opportunity to engage directly with the actor. Kapoor responded to repeated requests for a sequel, making it clear that the film’s story had already reached its natural conclusion.
“A lot of you guys want part 2, but there are so many new movies, new directors, and new ideas to work with. I think ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ had the perfect end. So it won’t have a part 2,” he said. However, he added that he remains open to exploring similar themes in future projects, suggesting that audiences may see another film in the same genre that they would enjoy.
During the session, Kapoor also shared updates about his upcoming films. He confirmed that Love & War, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, has been postponed from its originally planned August 2026 release due to the scale and ambition of the project.
The actor further revealed that work on ‘Brahmastra: Part Two – Dev’, directed by Ayan Mukerji, may begin sooner than expected. Meanwhile, filming for Animal Park, the sequel to ‘Animal’ directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, is likely to commence by mid-next year, giving fans a clearer timeline for his upcoming slate.
Kapoor concluded the session by acknowledging the work of his contemporaries and praised Ranveer Singh for his recent performance in ‘Dhurandhar’, highlighting the evolving landscape of Hindi cinema and the growing interest in fresh storytelling.
