Journalist Saurabh Dwivedi, the founding editor of Lallantop and India Today Hindi, has resigned from India Today Group Digital after a 12-year-long association, marking the end of a significant chapter in the group’s digital journalism journey, the announcement was made yesterday. Dwivedi’s exit brings a leadership transition at Lallantop, one of India’s most influential Hindi digital news platforms.
Following Dwivedi’s departure, Kuldeep Mishra will take complete charge of Lallantop’s editorial operations, while Rajat Sain will lead the production team. Both Mishra and Sain have been part of Lallantop since its inception and were closely involved in building the platform from the ground up.
In a post on X announcing his decision, Dwivedi thanked the platform for shaping his professional journey. “Thank you, @TheLallantop for identity, lessons, and courage. And best wishes for the future. My association here comes to an end. I will introspect, take a leisure break and then talk about the resolve to move forward. You all have also taught me many things. Thank you,” he wrote.
Dwivedi’s announcement drew reactions from across the journalism fraternity. Senior journalist Rajdeep Sardesai responded on X, calling Lallantop a trendsetter and Dwivedi one of its defining forces. “We will all miss you @saurabhtop and I will miss you even more. For me, Neta Nagri will always remain a special show. And @TheLallantop a real trend setter. Hopefully our paths will cross again. Good luck and god bless!” Sardesai said.
Dwivedi joined the India Today Group as a Features Editor at aajtak.in under the Mediaplex initiative and steadily emerged as one of the group’s most prominent homegrown editorial leaders. As the founding editor of Lallantop, he played a crucial role in shaping its distinct, conversational editorial voice and expanding its reach among young, Hindi-speaking audiences, particularly across India’s Hindi heartland.
Under his leadership, Lallantop evolved into a powerful digital brand, known for its sharp political interviews, ground reports and youth-focused content, helping redefine how Hindi journalism is consumed on digital platforms. Dwivedi’s exit signals a moment of transition for the platform even as leadership passes to members of its original core team, ensuring continuity in its editorial direction.
