Sony YAY! is set to add a festive highlight to its holiday programming with the television premiere of ‘Shin chan: The Spicy Kasukabe Dancers in India’, airing for the first time on Indian television on December 25.

The Christmas Day premiere is positioned as a special holiday treat for children and families, coinciding with the peak winter vacation viewing period.

As per a press release, the film, which released in theatres just two months ago, will now make its small-screen debut during the festive season. The movie marks a notable milestone for the popular Shin chan franchise, as it is the first storyline that takes Shin chan and his friends on an adventure set in India. Packed with colourful visuals, energetic dance sequences and the franchise’s signature humour, the film blends cultural novelty with familiar comic elements that have long resonated with young audiences.

In addition to the Christmas premiere, Sony YAY! has lined up a special festive programming block titled ‘Shin chan Movie Blast’. Running from December 20 to January 7, the movie festival will span 16 days and feature 16 Shin chan films, airing daily at 11 am. The initiative is designed to cater to children during the winter holidays, offering consistent, appointment-based viewing throughout the vacation window.

The Christmas premiere aligns with Sony YAY!’s broader strategy of curating event-led, holiday-focused content to maintain viewer engagement during festive breaks. Shin chan continues to be one of the channel’s strongest-performing properties, and the expanded movie lineup is expected to further strengthen its connect with young viewers.

Commenting on the festive offering, Ronojoy Chakraborty, Head of Programming, Sony YAY!, said the enduring love for Shin chan has shaped the channel’s holiday plans. He noted that bringing a recently released theatrical favourite to television during the Christmas break allows families to come together and enjoy familiar characters in a celebratory setting, reinforcing the channel’s focus on making festive periods more joyful and memorable for kids.
