Ranbir Kapoor-starrer ‘Animal’ is set to expand its global footprint with a theatrical release in Japan, marking another significant chapter in the film’s international journey.
The high-octane action drama, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, will hit Japanese cinemas on February 13, 2026, following its strong box office performance and sustained global attention.
According to a UNI report, the makers announced the Japan release on December 24, unveiling an official poster that features Ranbir Kapoor in an intense and rugged avatar. The visual highlights the film’s dark, brooding tone and positions ‘Animal’ as a bold Indian action spectacle rooted in themes of obsession, violence and raw masculinity.
The Japan release is being seen as an important milestone for Animal, underlining the growing international reach of Indian cinema and Ranbir Kapoor’s rising stature beyond domestic markets. With Japanese audiences increasingly embracing Indian films across genres, industry watchers expect strong curiosity and anticipation around the film’s overseas reception.
Produced by T-Series and Bhadrakali Pictures, ‘Animal’ will be released in Japan by Geek Pictures, a distributor known for regularly bringing Indian films to Japanese theatres. The film also features Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol and Triptii Dimri in key roles, adding depth to its ensemble cast.
Currently, ‘Animal’ holds the distinction of being the highest-grossing A-rated Indian film, with a worldwide collection of Rs 915 crore. Backed by striking visuals, a gripping narrative, a thunderous background score and what many describe as a career-defining performance by Ranbir Kapoor, the film is expected to resonate with both Indian cinema followers abroad and Japanese audiences drawn to stylised, international action dramas.
