News18 Assam Northeast is set to honour the legendary Zubeen Garg with a special musical tribute on the occasion of his birth anniversary.
The exclusive programme, celebrating his life, artistry, and enduring influence, will be telecast on 18th and 19th November from 7.50 pm onwards.
Zubeen Garg, one of Assam’s most iconic voices, shaped the region’s cultural and musical landscape for more than three decades. Beyond being a celebrated singer, composer, and performer, he emerged as a socially conscious figure whose work echoed the aspirations and emotions of Assamese society.
To commemorate his birth anniversary, News18 Assam Northeast organised a heartfelt tribute evening on 14th November in Guwahati, bringing together artists, admirers, and well-wishers.
The event was a celebration of Garg’s timeless music and his ability to touch the soul of every Assamese household. His songs continue to resonate across festivals, gatherings, and quiet personal moments—making him not just an artist, but an emotion shared by the people of Assam.
The evening featured soul-stirring performances by noted singers Mahalakshmi Iyer and Joi Barua, who rendered some of Zubeen Garg’s most beloved tracks. Prominent voices from Guwahati, including Diganta Bharati, Pranamika Goswami, Bhaswatii Bharati, Rupam Bhuyan, Barnali Kalita, Sajan Nayak, Mousam Gogoi, Arundhati Bhanupriya, Papori Gogoi, Prashanta Rajkhowa, Janam Kashyap, Alangkrita–Rupangkrita, Surekha Chetri, Minakshi Kalita, Nahid Afrin, and Panchuna Rabha, also offered heartfelt musical tributes that celebrated his incomparable contribution to Assamese music and culture.
Through this special telecast, News18 Assam Northeast pays homage to an artist whose melodies continue to unite the people of Assam. Zubeen Garg remains not just a legend, but an emotion deeply woven into the cultural fabric of the state.
