The makers of the Nawazuddin Siddiqui-starrer ‘Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders’ have officially announced the sequel to Netflix’s acclaimed 2020 crime thriller ‘Raat Akeli Hai’. Directed by Honey Trehan and written by Smita Singh, the film marks the return of Inspector Jatil Yadav — the sharp, determined, and complex police officer who captivated audiences in the original.
Produced by RSVP and MacGuffin Pictures, the sequel is set a few years after the events of the first film. This time, Jatil Yadav finds himself investigating a gruesome murder that exposes dark secrets hidden within a powerful family. The film features a stellar ensemble cast including Chitrangada Singh, Rajat Kapoor, Deepti Naval, Ila Arun, Revathy, Akhilendra Mishra, Priyanka Setia, Sanjay Kapoor, and Radhika Apte alongside Siddiqui.
According to a UNI report, ‘Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders’ will have its world premiere at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa this November before streaming exclusively on Netflix.
Sharing his excitement about reprising the role, Nawazuddin Siddiqui said, “Jatil Yadav is a character very close to me — flawed, restless, yet relentless in his pursuit of justice. In ‘Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders’, he faces a case that challenges everything he stands for.” He further added, “Smita and Honey have created a world that feels raw and real, where every clue hides a deeper secret. Returning as Jatil feels like picking up unfinished business. I’m grateful to RSVP, MacGuffin Pictures, and Netflix for allowing me to explore new layers of this man behind the uniform. I can’t wait for audiences to see what lies ahead.”
The first film, ‘Raat Akeli Hai’, was widely appreciated for its gripping storytelling, strong performances, and atmospheric tension. With ‘The Bansal Murders’, the makers promise to revisit the same brooding world of deceit and suspense — this time with even more emotional depth and unexpected twists.
