The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has extended the deadline for submission of written comments on its draft Telecommunication (Broadcasting and Cable) Services Interconnection (Addressable Systems) (Seventh Amendment) Regulations, 2025 to October 14, 2025, according to an official statement issued on Monday.
The decision comes following requests from several stakeholders seeking additional time to share their inputs on the proposed amendments. The draft regulations, which were earlier released on September 22, initially invited comments until October 6.
According to a UNI report, TRAI stated, “Keeping in view the requests of some of the stakeholders for an extension of time for submission of comments, it has been decided to extend the last date for submission of written comments up to October 14. No further requests for extension would be considered.”
The draft amendment aims to further streamline the framework governing interconnection agreements between broadcasters and distributors, enhancing transparency and compliance within the broadcasting and cable TV ecosystem. Stakeholders are expected to submit their comments to TRAI through the prescribed online portal or via written submissions before the revised deadline.
