Google has elevated Gaurav Bhaskar to the position of Head of Global Communications and Public Affairs, Asia-Pacific (APAC), where he will lead the tech giant’s communications and public affairs strategy across the region with a strong focus on AI-led growth and innovation.
Announcing the development on LinkedIn, Bhaskar expressed his excitement about the new role, calling it a defining moment in his 16-year journey with Google. “It’s been an incredible 16-year journey so far, and this next step feels like the most exciting one yet. Leading Comms for India, Southeast Asia & South Asia has been a profound privilege. I’m immensely proud of what we have accomplished and grateful for the lessons in leadership and innovation I’ve learned across these dynamic markets,” he said.
In a detailed post, Bhaskar highlighted APAC’s growing influence in shaping the global AI landscape. “APAC is racing ahead to embrace AI and will play a major role in defining the next chapter of the AI revolution. I’m driven to ensure our communications function is at the heart of this transformation, championing an AI-powered future that solves real-world challenges and unlocks human potential,” he added.
With over 25 years of professional experience, Gaurav Bhaskar has played a pivotal role in shaping Google’s communications in India and other Asian markets. Prior to joining Google, he worked with Rediff.com, Vaishnavi Corporate Communications, and Perfect Relations, building expertise in corporate reputation, risk management, brand communication, CSR, and crisis management.
In his new leadership capacity, Bhaskar will oversee strategic communications and public affairs initiatives across the Asia-Pacific region, aligning with Google’s broader mission to drive sustainable and inclusive AI growth. His appointment marks a significant step in strengthening Google’s communications leadership as the company continues to navigate the evolving digital and AI ecosystem in one of its fastest-growing markets.
