Zee TV has unveiled its latest family drama, ‘Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan’, a heartfelt series celebrating the resilience of a single mother raising her three daughters against societal odds.
Adapted from Zee Kannada’s acclaimed series ‘Puttakana Makkalu’, the show is set against the culturally vibrant backdrop of Varanasi and is produced by Ravie Dubey & Sargun Mehta’s Dreamiyata Dramaa.
The show chronicles the journey of Ganga Mai, portrayed by Shubhangi Latkar, who, despite being abandoned by her husband, refuses to succumb to despair. She works tirelessly to keep her household running, instilling values of courage, dignity, and self-respect in her daughters—Sneha (Amandeep Sidhu), Sahana (Srishti Jain), and Soni (Vaishnavi Prajapati). Together, they navigate life’s challenges, defying stereotypes and proving that daughters are a source of pride rather than a burden.
The show’s launch in Chandigarh featured an exclusive set tour and interactive session with the cast. The experience offered the media a glimpse into the warmth and authenticity of the series, with the actors hosting a simple, soulful lunch from their on-screen dhaba, reflecting the familial spirit at the heart of the story.
Commenting on the series, Mangesh Kulkarni, Chief Channel Officer, Zee TV, said, “With shows like ‘Saru’, ‘Tumm Se Tumm Tak’, ‘Chhoriyan Chali Gaon’, and now ‘Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan’, we are bringing forth stories that are rooted in culture yet contemporary in outlook. Each narrative highlights unique struggles, relationships, and journeys of empowerment, reinforcing Zee TV’s promise of celebrating real emotions and everyday heroes.”
Raghavendra Hunsur, Chief Content Officer, ZEE Entertainment Enterprises Ltd., added, “ ‘Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan’ is the story of a woman who turns hardship into hope, teaching her daughters to dream and stand tall. Tested and loved in the South markets of ZEE, this story now comes to a wider audience, and we believe it will resonate deeply with families across India.”
Speaking about her role, Shubhangi Latkar said, “Ganga Mai is not just a character; she is a symbol of every woman who chooses dignity over despair. Portraying her has been an emotionally enriching journey.”
