India, Sri Lanka to co-host first Women’s T20 Blind WC ’ 25

The Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) yesterday announced that India and Sri Lanka will co-host the historic first-ever Women’s T20 World Cup for the Blind, scheduled to take place from November 11 to 25, 2025.

Originally planned across New Delhi, Bengaluru and Kathmandu in Nepal, the Executive Committee of the World Blind Cricket Council (WBCC), in its virtual meeting held on September 15, finalised Colombo, Sri Lanka, as the neutral venue for fixtures involving Pakistan and as an additional host city. The decision was taken owing to the prevailing situation in Nepal, and Sri Lanka will now join India as a co-host of the tournament.

According to a UNI report, CABI officials will soon begin consultations with their Sri Lankan counterparts to oversee arrangements for the matches in Colombo.

The two-week-long World Cup will feature 21 league games, followed by two semi-finals and the grand finale. The fixtures will be spread across New Delhi, Bengaluru, and Colombo.

Sharing his thoughts on the landmark event, Dr. Mahantesh G. Kivadasannavar, Chairman of CABI, said, “This World Cup is more than just a tournament, it is a celebration of courage, skill, and inclusion. Hosting it in India is a matter of pride, and I am confident our girls will rise to the occasion, inspire millions, and make the nation proud.”
