Filmmaker Neeraj Ghaywan’s much-awaited drama ‘Homebound’ will arrive in cinemas worldwide on September 26, the makers announced on Saturday.
The film, headlined by Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, and Janhvi Kapoor, is one of the year’s most anticipated releases for its layered storytelling and emotional depth.
According to a PTI report, ‘Homebound’ delves into themes of belonging, displacement, and the bittersweet complexities of returning to one’s roots. At its heart, the story revolves around two childhood friends, portrayed by Ishaan Khatter and Vishal Jethwa, whose intertwined journeys capture the ache and hope of finding home again.
The inspiration for the film comes from journalist Basharat Peer’s poignant article written during the pandemic, which resonated deeply with director Neeraj Ghaywan. Known for his sensitive and socially aware filmmaking, Ghaywan has previously won acclaim for projects such as ‘Masaan’ and ‘Geeli Pucchi’. With ‘Homebound’, he returns to the big screen to tell a story rooted in human emotions and personal history.
The film is backed by a strong team of producers including Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra. Their collaboration underlines the film’s ambition of combining mainstream reach with a socially conscious narrative, aiming to connect with both Indian and global audiences.
With its stellar cast, evocative source material, and Neeraj Ghaywan’s signature touch, ‘Homebound’ is already generating buzz as a moving cinematic experience that promises to stay with audiences long after the credits roll.
