Rabindra Narayan, often described as the Father of Punjabi Satellite Television, has stepped down from his role as President and Managing Director of PTC Network after leading the Punjabi media giant for nearly two decades. Narayan is now preparing to launch a global media conglomerate that aims to redefine how Punjabi content is created, distributed, and consumed worldwide.
In a heartfelt statement, Narayan remarked, “PTC was never just a job—it was a mission. Together with an extraordinary team, we built a network of six channels, launched many global firsts, and gave Punjabi voices a global platform. Today, I take that mission forward into a new era. The next chapter is about scale, innovation, and global reach.”
This announcement was made through an official press release, which underlined his decision to move beyond PTC and step into a broader media vision with international ambitions. The new venture, details of which are expected to be unveiled in the coming weeks, will be a cross-platform media powerhouse. It promises to integrate television, OTT, digital platforms, events, and film production while leveraging cutting-edge technology and AI-driven content creation.
Over the years, Rabindra Narayan has been instrumental in shaping Punjabi-language television into a thriving cultural and entertainment ecosystem. Under his leadership, PTC Network emerged as the world’s most-watched Punjabi television network, with offerings that range from Gurbani telecasts at the Golden Temple to news, entertainment shows, and diaspora-focused programming across India, North America, and beyond.
Industry experts believe that his decision to embark on this new venture could bring a major shake-up in the Punjabi media landscape. The project is expected to pool together talent, investment, and technological innovation at a global scale, further strengthening Punjabi cultural presence across borders.
Narayan added, “The love of viewers, the support of colleagues, and the trust of the Punjabi community worldwide gave me the title of ‘Father of Punjabi Television.’ That love is now the fuel driving this new global dream.”
