Multiplex operator PVR INOX Ltd has announced the opening of a new 10-screen megaplex at Sky City Mall, Borivali East, marking its latest expansion in Mumbai. The property, developed by Oberoi Realty, offers a total seating capacity of 1,372.
According to PTI, developed under the company’s Capex by PVR INOX model, the megaplex is a direct investment by the exhibitor into designing, building, and operating a flagship cinema destination. The company did not disclose the investment details for the project.
With this launch, PVR INOX further strengthens its footprint in Mumbai, a key market for India’s cinema exhibition industry. The megaplex is designed to provide audiences with a premium movie-watching experience, aligning with the company’s strategy of building large-format destinations in urban hubs.
The opening comes at a time when multiplex operators are increasingly focusing on large-scale cinema properties to enhance footfalls, diversify revenue streams, and deliver differentiated entertainment experiences in high-demand markets.
