Jio Studios has achieved a major milestone, with its total net box office collection (NBOC) in India surpassing the Rs.1,000 crore mark in FY25, according to the latest annual report of Reliance Industries.
In the previous fiscal year, the films produced by the media and content arm of Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance had garnered around Rs.700 crore at the box office.
According to a PTI report, the company described FY25 as a “landmark year” for its entertainment business, driven by a robust line-up of over 40 films and web originals across multiple languages and platforms.
Jio Studios further strengthened its market leadership in the Indian film industry, dominating the Hindi box office with three of its productions — ‘Stree 2’, ‘Singham Again’, and ‘Sky Force’ — ranking among the year’s top five hits and contributing over 40 per cent of the industry’s total India NBOC.
Of these, ‘Stree 2’ emerged as the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time, the report said. Beyond theatres, Jio Studios’ titles also set records on major OTT platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, ZEE5, and JioHotstar. ‘Laapataa Ladies’ ranked among the top three most-watched Hindi films on Netflix, dominating global charts for weeks, while ‘Mrs’ set a record-breaking debut on ZEE5 with over 500 million viewing minutes in its first three weeks, also becoming Google’s most searched film of the year.
The studio’s success extended to music as well, with ‘Stree 2’’s soundtrack — led by the hit track ‘Aaj Ki Raat’ — amassing over two billion views and streams across YouTube and Spotify.
Industry recognition followed, with Jio Studios securing more than 65 awards, including 15 wins at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards and honours from the Dadasaheb Phalke Film Foundation. Four of its films also featured in IMDb’s Most Popular Indian Movies of 2024.
Expanding its regional footprint, Jio Studios made significant strides in Marathi cinema and is gearing up for high-profile releases such as the magnum opus ‘Raja Shivaji’ and a biopic on India’s first Olympic medal-winning wrestler, Khashaba Jadhav. The report said the studio continues to cement its position as “a trailblazer and global leader in Indian entertainment.”
