Continuing its undisputed run at the top, CNN-News18 has once again emerged as the No.1 English news channel in India, as per the latest data released by the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC). With a commanding market share of 41 percent, the channel leads by 179 percent over Times Now and 79 percent ahead of NDTV 24×7, reaffirming its dominance in the English news genre.
According to BARC data for Week 29, CNN-News18 continues to outperform the competition—NDTV 24×7 secured 22.9 percent market share, while Times Now trailed behind at 14.7percent.
In a press release, the network credited its sustained leadership to its sharp editorial focus, viewer trust, and citizen-first journalism. As part of its continued commitment to public interest reporting, CNN-News18 has now launched its latest nationwide editorial campaign, #SaveOurCities, a bold initiative spotlighting urban decay and infrastructure failure across India’s biggest metros.
Flooded streets, crumbling roads, clogged drains, and daily commuter chaos—CNN-News18 is putting the spotlight on the issues that define the monsoon experience in cities like Delhi, Gurugram, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. Under the banner of #SaveOurCities, the channel is questioning governance, exposing neglect, and demanding accountability.
Zakka Jacob, Managing Editor of CNN-News18, remarked, “CNN-News18 has been No.1 for the last three years now. There is no competition anywhere close to us, even in the latest BARC data. The gap between the No.1 and No.2 players is wide, and I believe this is a strong affirmation of our journalism.”
He added, “We put citizens’ concerns first and bring their issues to the forefront. Our latest initiative, #SaveOurCities, focuses on the monsoon crisis in major Indian cities where urban infrastructure is collapsing. This is the story of urban India, and urban India is tuning in to CNN-News18 to watch stories like these.”
Led by award-winning journalists including Zakka Jacob, Anand Narasimhan, Rahul Shivshankar, and Shivani Gupta, the channel has retained its leadership since the return of BARC ratings in March 2022. Backed by strategic editorial investments and cutting-edge newsroom technology, CNN-News18 continues to deliver impactful journalism that resonates with urban audiences.
With consistent viewership, credible reportage, and campaigns that reflect ground realities, CNN-News18 remains the go-to destination for English news in India—firmly holding its place as the people’s channel.
