Warner Bros is all set to adapt Chris Colfer’s bestselling children’s book series ‘The Land of Stories’ into a live-action film, with filmmaker Phil Johnston attached to direct. Colfer, best known for his role in ‘Glee’, has earned wide acclaim for the six-book fantasy series, which blends the charm of classic fairy tales with an emotionally rich, modern storyline.
According to a PTI report, the studio has secured the rights to the popular franchise, which follows twin siblings Alex and Conner Bailey. Their world takes a magical turn when they are mysteriously drawn into a mystical book, catapulting them into a realm where fairy tales are not just real, but reimagined in surprising and heartfelt ways. As they navigate through lands ruled by familiar characters like Cinderella and Snow White, the twins must overcome epic challenges to return home—while discovering more about themselves along the way.
Phil Johnston, known for co-directing ‘Ralph Breaks the Internet’ and co-writing ‘Zootopia’, is expected to bring a dynamic visual approach and emotional depth to the adaptation. The project marks a significant step for Warner Bros as it continues expanding its slate of family-oriented live-action features rooted in popular book franchises.
‘The Land of Stories’ has sold millions of copies worldwide since its debut in 2012 and has built a loyal fanbase across age groups. Colfer has long expressed interest in seeing the world he created translated to screen, making this development a highly anticipated moment for readers who grew up with the magical adventures of the Bailey twins.
No casting or release dates have been announced yet, but the adaptation is already drawing excitement in Hollywood as another major fantasy series heads to the big screen.
